HPC System Administrator

Our multinational partner company is looking for a practical HPC systems administrator, who is interested in an exciting international R & D project in the area of climate change and radically shifting weather paterns. The projects prime focus is the development of a state-of-the-art environmental monitoring platform within Lake George, in the state of New York, USA.

Tasks:

  • assisting in automating, implementing, monitoring and administering high performance computing infrastructure,

(clusters, distributed servers, hosting database-backed web applications)

  • work from high-level specification/instruction,
  • responsible for low level design and implementation,
  • work in conjunction with  the distributed systems administrator, providing support for distributed servers, graphics workstations, and other Linux-based servers.

Requirements:

  • experience with x86 HPC clusters (MPI based), x86 servers (bare metal) and shell scripting,
  • experience with installing, configuring, and maintaining server class storage systems and networking (Infiniband, Ethernet),
  • Linux software OS and library/application level installation and system maintenance (RedHat, CentOS, or Ubuntu),
  • proficiency with Deb and RPM software packaging and installation,
  • familiarity with one or more software configuration/change management tools (e.g. puppet).

  • Cluster Management Software (Ganglia, xCat, Kubernetes, Slurm)
  • networking experience (Physical to Logical, including firewall and security software)
  • Python programming.
